Training and certification as an EEG Awakened Mind Practitioner requires only a heartfelt commitment to the lifelong journey of awakening yourself and others to a higher state of consciousness.
The four training seminars described below were designed and used over the course of a decade by world authority Anna Wise to teach and certify dozens of awakened mind practitioners working today through an international consortium, the Institute for the Awakened Mind.
Since Wise’s death in early 2010, Judith Pennington and other awakened mind trainers conducting practitioner training seminars have updated the curriculum to include the most recent discoveries in the investigative field of the brain, meditation and consciousness.
The Vilistus Mind Mirror 6
A new, state-of-the-art Mind Mirror has been developed since late 2011 that integrates the classic real-time, dual-hemisphere functionality of the early versions of the Mind Mirror with the advanced features available in a modern neurofeedback/biofeedback device.
Judith Pennington has worked closely with the software engineers at Vilistus to customize this new version of the Mind Mirror to meet the needs of awakened mind practitioners. In addition, practitioners throughout the world have suggested excellent advances to this continually evolving software. The result is a superb research-grade instrument that includes sophisticated features, innovative user controls, and advanced data analysis tools.
The Mind Mirror 6 should be purchased and in hand prior to the student’s participation in Seminar 1, as this training seminar is dedicated in part to the use and understanding of the hardware and software.
To learn more about the Vilistus Mind Mirror 6, please visit the several subpages which describe the hardware, software, and cost and content of two equipment kits bundled for practitioners and self-trainers.
Each of the four seminars listed below includes structures, techniques, exercises and meditations designed to train the awakened mind brainwave pattern over the course of 4.5 days.
Important Note: Seminars 1 and 2 are open to people who wish to pursue awakened mind practitioner training as a career and to self-trainers who want hands-on equipment and meditation training for more rapid attainment of the meditation, awakened mind, and evolved mind brainwave patterns. Seminars 3 and 4 are intended for professional awakened mind trainers.
Upon request, seminars may be paired in order to reduce travel time and expenses. Please contact Judith Pennington or other practitioners offering training seminars to request their fee and training schedules.
Seminar 1: Includes contextual history of the Awakened Mind and Mind Mirror; the basic theory of brainwave categories and the meditation, awakened mind, evolved mind, and (newly discovered) superconscious mind and universal consciousness patterns; use of the Vilistus Mind Mirror 6 EEG and two physiology meters, Galvanic Skin Response and Blood Volume Pulse; software loading, electrode placements, Mind Mirror software operation and data analysis tools; brainwave vocabulary, profiles and drawings; brainwave pattern recognition and interpretation; and brainwave meditation training protocols.
Seminar 2: Includes a deeper understanding of brainwave pattern interpretation; meditations for beta mastery, alpha development, theta development, delta exploration, and the awakened mind; the structural basis of awakened mind meditations and how to experience, compose and lead them. This seminar also includes practice with drawing brainwave patterns and personal exploration of several deep-state self-discovery, healing and transformation meditations. By the end of this seminar, the trainee is prepared to do the independent study work described below.
Seminar 3/Practicum 1: The student working toward certification is expected to have completed a number of brainwave profiles and to present one or more original meditations to be shared with the group and critiqued by the students and teacher. Student will be observed and receive feedback and continued instruction on voice and presentation. There is also continued practice, with the group, in drawing brainwave patterns.
This seminar further addresses how to deal with content that arises from the subconscious; conduct individual sessions; and use brainwave training for creativity, personal growth, self-healing, and spiritual development within an individual client format. Direct feedback is given to the trainee for the awakened mind pattern. Discussions center on the relationship of the state to the content of consciousness. Each participant experiences an individual session with the teacher while the group observes.
Seminar 4/Practicum 2: Includes understanding protocols and planning for three-hour, one-day, weekend, three-day, and five-day workshops (the "grid" system); how to lead groups in meditation; processing content within a group format; group dynamics; ethics; bio-monitoring and giving feedback within the group context; addressing "energetics," spiritual crisis, and spiritual development; and how to attract and build a practice.
In this final practicum each student leads an awakened mind session using a meditation he or she has written, and receives feedback on presentation and content. Students also receive feedback on their independent study work (explained below).
Independent Study Work: Consists of five brainwave sessions with each of five subjects (a total of 25 sessions). These brainwave studies and a case history on each subject's progress are to be presented to the teacher no less than one week before Practicum 2. In addition, students are required to write six meditations of the following types: relaxation, alpha sensualization exercises, alpha beingness meditation, alpha word picture, theta meditation, personal transformation (awakened mind) meditation.
The independent study work reflects the student’s depth of understanding and ability to do the work. It also provides students with the skills and confidence needed to become an EEG Awakened Mind Consciousness Trainer.
Certification Requirements: Completion of Seminars 1-4, including the two practicums, and the independent study work described above. Certification is awarded when the student exhibits satisfactory knowledge of the material and techniques, and displays an ability to help others awaken their minds. The purpose of the practicums is to provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and ability, while receiving feedback and developing their skills.
